Dr. Irena Papa was born in Tirana, Albania, and holds a PhD in Linguistics with a thesis on Interculturality in Language Teaching, a Master’s Degree in American Literature, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature. She is currently pursuing Vocational Teacher Education Studies at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland. A university lecturer since 2005 and an ESP and ESL teacher since 2004, Dr. Papa has extensive experience in intercultural education, her main field of expertise. She works as a Teacher Trainer in Helsinki, delivering the courses Competences and Awareness for the Multicultural Classroom and Integrating Culture in the Foreign Language Classroom. Since 2021, she has been a Teacher Trainer at Europass, where she has designed and taught several face-to-face courses, including Promoting an Inclusive and Multicultural Classroom, Cultivating Diversity and Inclusion, Teaching Languages, Culture, or Both?, and The Secret of Finnish Education: Phenomenon-Based Learning.
