Cristina A. Bejan is an affiliate professor in the History Department and the Theatre and Dance Department at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Bejan is an award-winning Romanian-American historian, theatre artist and spoken-word poet. Her areas of expertise include world history, 20th century global genocide, forms of government, activist theatre and performance poetry.

Bejan writes creatively in five languages and has been published internationally in academic, theatrical, and poetry genres. She authored the book, “Intellectuals and Fascism in Interwar Romania: The Criterion Association” and is a contributing author for “The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos Vol. 3.” Bejan’s history and poetry books have been released in Romanian translation with Editura Litera and Editura Tracus Arte.

She has written nineteen plays, many of which have been produced in the United States, Romania, the United Kingdom and Vanuatu. Under her stage name “Lady Godiva,” she performs her poetry across the United States and Romania. She is also the founding executive director of the arts and culture platform, Bucharest Inside the Beltway (BiB).

Bejan received her doctorate and master’s degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. She also attended the University of Bucharest as a Fulbright Scholar to study History. She received her bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (with Honors and Phi Beta Kappa) from Northwestern University and completed studies in NU’s renowned Theatre program.
